Bronx Zoo - The End of our Day!
If you did not see the first 6 entries for the Bronx Zoo, you can follow our day at the zoo, by starting with the first Bronx Zoo entry.
We finished our day at Tiger Mountain, which also had a stream of fish. Logan enjoyed the fish and the interactive stuff more than the tiger, which was sleeping.
Our trip to the Zoo takes us across the George Washington Bridge. On the way to the Zoo, we took the lower level, but on the way back, Madison wanted to take the Upper level to see the bridge. I have to admit, it was a cool sight.
We will definitely be going back to the zoo, since we did not get to see the Mouse House, World of Birds, World of Reptiles (Shawn was more than happy to skip this one), and the Butterfly Garden.
Bronx Zoo- Gorillas
Our next stop included a visit to Gorilla Valley and the Bug Carousel. Logan would have stayed all day watching the gorillas, which were very close. We stood in the glass tunnel and watched the gorillas go from side to side, by climbing over the tree, which was over us. It was the most active I have ever seen gorillas, which also included 2-3 babies.
Bronx Zoo - 6
We absolutely loved watching the Polar Bear play in his pool with the Balls. Logan thought he should be able to get in and play with the balls, too. The Polar Bear will definitely be a regular stop on our visits.
Bronx Zoo 3
After the Children's Zoo, we headed to the Skyfari without telling Madison what exactly it was. She quickly realized as we got a little closer, that she would be heading up in one of the green things (as she referred to them). We took a trip high in the sky and across the park for a bird's eye view of the zoo. It was absolutely amazing and the pictures don't do it justice. After getting high in the sky, everyone loved it. We will definitely ride it again!
Bronx Zoo 2
We then headed to the Children's Zoo area, where we fed the animals, climbed in the spider web, made ourselves look like turtles and slid in the tree slide that has at least 3 turns inside. Madison has also decided that she needs a Guinea pig for a pet. Shawn and I decided Bailey and Bryant would have it for lunch and that was probably not a good idea. The peacock in the picture seemed to be standing guard by the exit and posing for pictures.
Bronx Zoo
We decided to visit the Bronx Zoo, which is less than an hour from our house. The day as overcast and cloudy, but we decided it was a good day to go. We arrived at the zoo at opening time, 10 am and left when the gates closed at 5:30 and still did not see everything. We started off visiting the Flamingos and the Sea Lions.
Madison's Sea Creatures Program
Madison's class presented a sea creatures program at school for all of the parents and the other Kindergarten classes. Madison was suppose to dress like a seahorse. OK, so we have moved 700 miles from my creative sister (Lynn) and Mimi who knows how to sew. We improvised and created our own seahorse costume, complete with a stuffed seahorse made by hand. Yes, I made it myself and Shawn insisted taking a picture, since he was sure no one would believe it.
