Our visit with Santa!

This past weekend we went to the town square and visited Santa Claus. We also took a train ride around the town square. This year was great, no crying kids!!

On Sunday, we had another 4 inches of snow. Shawn and Madison shoveled the sidewalk and built a snowman. Madison loved building her 1st snowman.

Happy Holidays!!

Logan's daily adventures

Logan absolutely loves the carousel and the music. He wants it on all day.

Ho, Ho, Ho!!! Merry Christmas!!

Daisy Troop visited the Gingerbread Houses

New York City with Mimi and PopPop!

Mimi and PopPop came to visit us for the weekend. On Saturday, we went to New York to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. We had a great time and everyone enjoyed the show. Madison enjoyed Santa while Logan enjoyed all of the lights. The city is full of Christmas decorations.

It was also our first trip that we drove into the City. It went without incident, but I would not try it on a regular basis. Let's just say - Defensive Driving and what laws/rules?? Shawn did a great job and got us there and home successfully.

Is Madison holding up the ornaments??

After the Rockettes, we headed to see the Christmas Tree at Rockafeller Plaza (not as grand as I was expecting). We then headed to Grand Central Station to see the holiday train show and laser light show in the main terminal. Both were fablous and everyone liked them. Logan loved the laser show on the ceiling and walls of Grand Central. About 1/2 way through the show, Santa started showing up in all shapes, sizes, color, and dress - whatever you could imagine. I would say about 500 or so Santas gathered at Grand Central. Based on what we gathered from various people, this is an annual event and they travel from place to place in the city during day based on a message someone sends around via text or email.

We had a great visit!!

Thanksgiving in TN

Here are a few pictures of our trip to TN for Thanksgiving. The kids played in the leaves, played outside and had a great time. Madison went to the Hannah Montana Concert with Aunt Lynn, Ally and Andy. We also attempted our annual picture session with all of the grandkids. With 3 cameras and seven kids, we might have actually gotten a good picture to use. We also decorated Mimi and Poppop's Christmas Tree, which is a tradition since Lynn, Kim and Susan were little. We have always decorated it as a family when everyone is there. This year was a little early, but it was the only time we were in town.

Fall Fun!

Our 1st Snow!!

We had 4 inches of snow last week on Monday. We were all very excited, since this is the first real snow that amounted to anything that either Madison or Logan have ever seen. Both were very excited, therefore we went out to play before Kim headed for work and Madison went to school. Yes, you read correctly, Madison went to school. School started 90 minutes late, but the buses ran and school went on. If we had been in Knoxville, we would have been out at least a couple of days.

Deer in the Yard!

OK, so we have to come to New Jersey to see deer in our own yard. We came home one night and there were 2 deer in the yard. As you can see, we tried for pictures, but it appears to be to dark. The kids loved seeing the deer. Later that same night, the dogs started going crazy and we noticed that one of the deer had bedded down for the night in the clover patch near our swing set. Standing close by was a very large buck. They were gone the next morning.

Halloween

We really enjoyed Halloween this year. We carved our pumpkin and went trick or treating with a couple of families in the neighborhood. Logan decided he would rather hand out candy and see all of the kids come to the door (since it was cold). Logan was your friendly lion and Madison was a cheerleader.

Ally, Andy and Matthew Visit!

On Knox County's Fall break, Madison's cousins came to visit. We had a great time. Mimi, Aunt Lynn and Uncle D also came. We went into NYC one day and then they visited the Statue of Liberty, while I worked and Madison went to school the next day.

While most went into the City, Shawn and Logan chose to stay home in the peace and quiet.

Trip to the Fire Station

Madison's class took a fieldtrip to the firestation and Shawn and Logan walked to the station to meet them. Madison's class walked from the school to the fire station with the help of a couple of policemen to cross the main road. The kids thought it was great that the police stopped their car in the middle of the road with the lights on to stop traffic so they could cross.

Logan loved the BIG truck!!

Halloween Season is Here!

We have had a great couple of very busy weeks.

Mom, Lynn, David, Ally, Andy and Matthew came to visit during their fall break. We had a wonderful visit as we showed them our temporary new home in New Jersey. We made trip to New York City on Monday and enjoyed the sites of the city (including American Girl, M&M Store, and the NBA Store). Madison and I provided our tourguide services to them for Monday and only managed to get lost once in the city (not bad for tour guides from the South). Tuesday, they ventured to the Statue of Liberty on their own, while I worked and Madison went to school.

Madison's Halloween Parade at school was on Friday and she was Hannah Montana without a wig (ie Miley Cyrus). All of the kids paraded around the parking lot while the parents all took pictures. We then went inside for cupcakes and juice and to make a craft project.

This past weekend, we went to a Pumpkin Carving Party and had a great time. I am not sure Madison did much but say YUCK!. We have a great carved pumpkin to share with the neighbors this week on Halloweeen.

Monday was trick-or-treating at the PwC offices. All of the children of the National Office employees came for a Halloween party and trick-or-treating. Logan enjoyed the lollipop he had, but he wore most of it on his Lion costume. Madison decided she did not want to wear her Hannah Montana wig, so she was a cheerleader for the party complete with silver pompoms.

When we got home from the party, we had four-legged guests in our yard. Three deer decided to visit us for the evening and the kids thought that was great. Logan thinks they are dogs, but he enjoyed it anyway. The first thing Madison wanted to do when she saw them was call Uncle Wesley and tell him all about them.

Pumpkin Picking!!

This weekend was the first fall weekend we have had since being in New Jersey. Therefore, we decided to go pumpkin picking at a family owned farm in the area. Someone recommended Alstede Farms because it has lots of things for kids to do.

Madison really enjoyed picking out her pumpkin but had a difficult time deciding which of the thousands she really wanted. She also decided that Logan needed a little pumpkin of his own, so we got one of those too.

They were right, Madison and Logan enjoyed climbing on the very large haystack, taking a hayride, picking pumpkins, and seeing the goats and pigs. Madison also went on a pony ride. Shawn and I enjoyed the farmer's market at the farm, where we found wonderful homemade pies. We decided to take home an apple pie to try. It was absolutely wonderful, but Shawn still says Aunt Nancy's apple pie is the best. We brought home our pumpkins and then decorated the house for Halloween on Sunday.

It was perfect family outing on a gorgeous fall day!!
